July 20 – 12th Annual Pig Roast at the Schmitz’s – Seventy-five PBCA, MG-MG, SABCC, PAHC members met for the big 12th Annual Joint British Car Club Pig Roast July 20th at Tom and Jeanne Schmitz's home in Lillian, Alabama. Tom and Jeanne’s meticulous preparations for the event were both elegant and fun, as usual. Tom provided the roast pig and everybody filled the kitchen counters with their side dishes and desserts. We admired all the British cars that were parked on the lawn ranged from MGs, Triumphs, and Austin-Healeys to Jaguars and a Rolls-Royce to compliment Tom's 12 LBCs. The Schmitz’s swimming pool was warm and open for swimming. We also got to practice our racing skill and crash without losing our car. Richard Cunningham set up his big 8-foot screen and Play Station in Tom’s car collection garage and had many of us raced at Le Mans. Tom adds that he had to handle the carving himself, as this was the first time that Keith Sanders missed the pig roast. Keith and Beth, who were married at last year's event, were busy with 18 guests and their new Bed and Breakfast in Virginia.
Everyone went home happy with the camaraderie and overstuffed with great cuisine.
