Five Flags Speedway and Big Wedding

Keith Sanders

The PBCA‘s June outing was a trip to the races organized by V-P Keith Sanders. Our local half mile race track, Five Flags Speedway, hosted our club and a one member of the SABCC and on June, 22. We meet prior to driving over to the speedway at the Happy Chine restaurant and had a great buffet dinner. At 7:00 we headed over the race track and lined up at the pit gate for entry on the track. Just prior to the beginning of the Friday night races they hold a short invocation, sing the national anthem and they recognize the track safety crew, pace car and we lined up behind them and made a lap of the track while they read a brief introduction telling the spectators the make, model, year and driver of each of the15 British cars that attended. After the safety parade, we parked at the end of the grandstands and had reserved seating to watch the night‘s races.

Those attending were, Keith Sanders and Beth Messick, MGC, Tom and Jeanie Schmitz XKE-2+2, Ralph and Peggy Overly, MGC-GT, Mickey and Kay Kay, MGB, Kip Lee & Mike Martinez, Midget, Scott and Brenda Putriment, MGB-GT Bob and Joanne McCrea, Jag, Bob and Margaret Henson, Jag, Bill and Donna Weeks, Midget, Jeff and Marie Olive, Mini, Mike Japp, Spitfire and Dick Bishop, MGB.

Most of the group stayed until the end of the nights races and most want to know when we will holding another night at the races. It was a great event for a hot summer night.

Our July Pig Roast is to be the site of a special event this year.  Long time PBCA member Keith Sanders (MG-C's) and Beth Messick (MG-B) are to tied the knot at this years summer party held at Tom & Jeanne Schmitz waterfront home in Lillian Alabama.  Keith is very active in PBCA, AMGCR, MG Council and has also served as the DJ for the SABCC show every fall.  They are both active in many LBC activities, attending numerous local shows and organizing most of the PBCA road trips and events held during the year.  With many of their friends being British car people and Beth desiring a beach front wedding, they decided to combine the two events and have a large host of friends at there wedding on July 22.  The theme is tropical, with bride and groom in flowered shirts and dress and everyone attending wearing a lei around there neck.  Several tents will be decorated with colorful flowers, with a beach atmosphere.  They will honeymoon in Smoky Mountains a few days before attending the AMGCR "C event of Brutal Aggressives', the annual MGC Register Car show.
