JULY SUMMER PICNIC AND PIG ROAST

SPECIAL NOTE:  July meeting will be Sunday the 24^th at Tom and Jeanne Schmitz’s home.  PBCA, SABCC, and PAHC will gather for the “10^th Annual PBCA/SABCC Summer Picnic Pig Roast” and to enjoy each other’s company and British cars.

Date and time:  SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2005 Starting at 12:00 Noon

Location: Tom and Jeanne Schmitz’s in Lillian, AL, 9609 Soldier Creek, Lillian, AL

The pool will be open. Status of fishing pier and/or boat will be dependent upon repair of Ivan damage.

Roast Pig will be provided.  Please bring covered dish, salad, or dessert and a beverage.

British car parking on drive and yard, for others there is adequate parking on the right of way.

From Pensacola:

Take US 98 west to Perdido Bay, over to Perdido Bay Bridge.  At the west end of the bridge, turn left at the stop light onto County  Road 99 (there is a left turn lane) and proceed south approximately 6 miles to where 99 curves west to the first stop sign.  Go straight thru the stop sign heading west for .8 of a mile.  At Soldier Creek Road you will have to turn right, north, and proceed 1 mile to the Schmitz’s house on the left on the water.  Watch for the  name on the mail box and British Flags.

BRITS JOIN GERMANS AND ITALIANS AT N.A.S. PENSACOLA FOR THE 4^th ANNUAL PENSACOLA EURO CAR SHOW

May 21, members of PBCA, and Mardi Gras MG’s, gathered in front of the National Museum of Naval Aviation located on Naval Aviation Station, Pensacola for the 4^th Annual Euro Car Show.  They joined owners of German and Italian cars.  This annual event attracted almost ninety cars. In addition to the 17 British cars, there were some beautiful Porsches, VW’s, Ferraris, and a “door-up-front” Isetta.

PBCA members attending were, Bob and Margaret Henson, 67 E-Type; Curt and Midge Derby, ’53 MGTD, Tom Schmitz, ’55 MGTF; Bill Moseley, ’80 TR8; Mike Japp and son Thomas, ’77 Spitfire;  Jim Haskins, ’53 MGTD and Joe Hajcak, Porsche 944, and Dave Burrows

IVAN STILL AFFECTING CAR SHOW TURNOUT AT HADJI SHOW

The May 28th 12th Annual Hadji Temple Antique and Classic Car Show attendance was about half its usual size as was PBCA's turnout of seven cars.

While still a fine venue for the car show, Ivan took out most of the pine trees and changed the scenery of this historically shady site.  The live oaks survived well but unfortunately many of the cars usually attending this show were not there this year. 

PBCA members who showed up and British Car Class Awards included:  Curt and Midge Derby,  First Place with their '53 MGTD, Ann Klumpp, Second Place with her '54 XK120, Lou Goldstein, Third Place with his '57 XKE 140.  Also attended were Tom Schmitz, '67 Austin Mini Cooper S; Bill Moseley, '80 TR8;  Fritz Klumpp, '54 MGTF; Mike Japp, '77 Spitfire.
