Shows
Attended
The most strikingly beautiful photo I
have ever seen -- the one made of PBCA member, Lou Goldstein sitting in his
1957 Jaguar XK-140. It was made by Bob Goldberg at the Oct.
14 Navarre Beach car show.
Montgomery, AL - PBCA
entered many shows since last month's Marque issue
with outstanding success. The most significant show was the
British Car Festival held on the Shakespeare
Festival grounds at Montgomery, AL. on Sept. 27. The two photographs show the beautifully manicured show area
and MGB's lined up with the impressive Shakespeare Festival Auditorium in
the background.
Milton, FL
- PBCA members not attending the Montgomery
show entered the Pensacola Antique Automobile Association show which was
unfortunately on the same day as Montgomery. Last year, twenty-one of our
British cars were on hand. The Association said that it would not conflict
in the future. This show is not a direct car-to-car
competition. Awards are solely based on points awarded by
their judges.
Navarre Beach
- This all-car judged show features two British classes - one for four
cylinder and another for eight and twelve cylinder cars. PBCA members
Scott and Brenda Putriment entered their beautiful yellow Gremlin in the highly
competitive American Car class and earned a well-deserved third place
award!!! Other PBCAers will be announced next month.
Ft. Walton Beach
- An all car show without a British car class but PBCA did
well against the American iron.
PBCA Progressive
Dinner - PBCA annual Progressive Dinner Sunday, Oct.
26. We will meet at the Welcome Center at the foot of 3-Mile Bridge,
Pensacola side, and drive to Vice President, John and Annette Barber's
home. Many of us will get a first look at his race prepared 1963 XKE,
which he races around the S.E. United States. Then we will drive to former
President, Gus and Ann's home to finish eating as much - as fast as we
can.
And where we're going...
Fairhope, AL British Car
Show - Sat., Nov. 8 - Our sister club, South Alabama British
Car Club, will host their British Car Festival. It is the SABCC's
big event which compliments the PBCA Pensacola Beach British Car Show coming up
this April. See website for details.
PBCA Poker Rally
- Sunday, November 16. A scenic course of approx. 55
miles, only paved roads without speed bumps - to
be followed by an automobile display and a sit down dinner at Mesquite
Charlie's Steak's large reserved room. Register between 11:45 and 1:15,
get General Instructions and Route Instructions, then
GO!
PBCA Christmas
Party - Saturday, December 8. Our very well attended
Annual Christmas Party will take place on Pensacola Beach as
before. See website for details.
Lillian, AL Christmas
Parade - Saturday, December 13. A PBCA
tradition, we will drive our British cars in the big Lillian, AL
Christmas Parade. Lillian is on Hgy. 98, only seven miles west of
Pensacola. We always throw candy to the crowd and generally make noise
with our horns. Always fun and a nice touch for the parade!!!
NOTES
"New" MGB - PBCA Treasurer, Tom
Schmitz, added a first-class MGB to his British car stable. Having just brought
the MGB back from Meridian, MS, Tom drove it to the judged Navarre Beach show
and placed first in the four cylinder British class. Tom can smell
out British gems like a bloodhound finds people.
Small correction - Last
month I successfully spelled Cornacchione's last name but misspelled his
first name "Bob" instead of "Bill".
SEE YOU AT THE
RALLY!
