Begins at Noon. Bring something to drink; also, you are encouraged to bring a covered dish to share. “Bring your British car and park in the yard”.

Downtown Pensacola Show

May 17 – Saturday - Pensacola Downtown Improvement Board and the Panhandle Cruisers club presented the first show ever to be held on Pensacola’s shady main street. Highly successful, an estimated 7500 visitors strolled through the show area to see the 130 cars – so many people that it was difficult to photograph the cars!! PBCA had thirteen very nice cars in the event. There would have been still more Brits but there wasn’t much lead-time and Mardi Gras MGs was committed to the City of Daphne, AL. Bill Weeks asked PBCA drivers to meet at his home, which isn’t far from downtown, and drive in as a group. This worked nicely. The Downtown Improvement Board selected the top 20. George Mohanco’s BRG ’56 Jaguar XK-140 Drophead took one of the trophies. The nice little restaurants and other businesses on Palafox Street were prepped for the event and set up sidewalk displays. They reported that they were very happy with the beautiful cars as well as the extra business. The City of Pensacola invited the Cruisers to continue the event and expand it into a major judged show that will include the two fixed British Classes and the “Expanded British Classes” with marque or make splits.

The 13 PBCA cars were driven by Bob Henson, Ralph Overly, Bill Silhan, Tom Schmitz, Al DeWeese, Curt Derby, Joe Hajcak, Bob Manske, George Mohanco, Bill Moseley, Gus Fell, Bill Weeks, and Bill Weeks’ son, Will Weeks.

Hadji Temple All-Car Show

May 24, Saturday – The annual Hadji Temple All-Car Show in Pensacola features a single British class. Three very different British cars were there. The winner, Mardi Gras MGs’ Michael Bamford, showed his perfect ’61 Daimler SP-250s, the best of his three SP-250s, and it was spectacular. Judges graded all four areas, Outside, Engine compartment, Interior, and Undercarriage and found Michael’s SP-250 an easy call. My ’80 Triumph TR-8 finished second, and George Mohanco’s ’56 XK-140 finished third.
