Pensacola, Florida – April 21, 2007 - Panhandle British Car Association’s 15th Annual British Car Show was, in the opinion of many attendees, one of the best ever!  Named Brits on the Bay, this year is was moved from the beach to the grassy field in Admiral Mason Park fronting on Pensacola Bay.  There were 107 cars registered.  Over 100 people attended the “Red Beans and Rice” Welcome Party at the Pensacola Beach Resort Friday night.  The park proved to be an excellent location and the sunny weather was a perfect mid-70s with a cooling breeze off the water.  Next year’s location will be even better, moving three blocks west to Seville Square Park which is covered with beautiful Naval Live Oaks.  This year, one of the most competitive classes was the big Healeys.  Seven beautiful Austin-Healeys competed with three of them having won Best-of-Show Awards in previous shows!  The other large class, nine Jaguar XJS’s, were split into two classes, convertibles and coupes.

PBCA thanks Jeff Zorn of Little British Car Company for attending with his extensive display of British car products for sale at the show.

The food vendor, Bobby from the Corner Café, Pensacola, served lunches from an excellent menu of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Cajun dishes.  Following the show, over 50 of the attendees moved from the show site to McGuire's for an early dinner and more British car camaraderie.

The Show Committee  co-chairmen, Tom Schmitz and Bob Henson, extend a very appreciative “thank you” to all the PBCA members who work before and during the show to make it a big success.  It is impossible to name everyone without missing someone but special thanks goes to Bill Weeks for his efforts with the City of Pensacola in acquiring the show site and seeing that everything was ready for us, Curt Derby for again providing the great artwork, and as always, Keith Sanders with his motorhome, and his van for transporting all the necessary materials needed.  Keith is our invaluable “detail man” as well as the voice of the show as our sound technician and MC.

Euro Car Display at N.A.S. Pensacola

National Museum of Naval Aviation, N.A.S. Pensacola, May 12, 2007 – PBCA, along with other British car clubs, participated in the annual Euro Car Display in front of the museum with 14 British cars in attendance.  The Porsche club, BMW club, VW club, and others were on hand for this annual event.  The BMW club took the lead this year, led by Ron Wright.  It was held under the best conditions, a beautiful, sunny Pensacola day.  We enjoyed eating lunch in the reconstructed Cubi Point Officer’s Club, now a restaurant, and looked out the window at the cars.  Mardi Gras MGs erected a nice shady canopy and provided some beautiful flags to brighten up the site.  Although not show, everybody voted for the “car that they liked best”.  PBCA’s Curt Derby took the trophy with his ’53 MGTD.  Photos speak louder than words:
