PORK TIME AT TOMíS

Bill Moseley

Pensacola, FL, September 2005. Tom and Jeanne Schmitz hosted the highlight of the hot weather months, an event that could be named ďChristmas Party of the SummerĒ, the PIG ROAST. I had to miss this summerís big July event because of out-of-town business commitments so Tom is writing up the Pig Roast under his name.

10th Annual Joint British Car Clubs Picnic and Pig Roast

Tom Schmitz

The Panhandle British Car Association and the South Alabama British Car Club held the 10th Annual Joint Picnic and Pig Roast July 24th at the Schmitz's home in Lillian, Alabama.  This has always been the venue of the event and this year it was expanded by inviting the MG-MG Car club from Fairhope to join in the activities.  Approximately 80 British Car enthusiasts gathered to swap car stories and information, peruse Tom's car collection of both full size and model cars and most importantly devour the roast pig provided by Tom and Jeanne and the multitude of goodies brought by all the participants. Every year it is amazing what a variety of great dishes are laid out for the feast.  The day was hot, hot but several adults as well as two-year old Thomas Japp cooled off in the pool.  Unfortunately the fishing pier and the pedal boat were victims of Ivan and not available this year but should be back by next summer.  Tom and Keith Sanders cut into the roast pig about 2 pm and the folks got down to some serious feasting.

September Gathering to View Eclectic Collection

The September PBCA  Event will take place at Henry Hansel's home in Pensacola September 17th starting at 1 pm.  Lunch will be catered by Rickís Ribs at the club's expense and we will touring Henry's extensive car collection which includes the '55 red T-bird many saw at the Pig Roast last month as well as a 59 Buick convertible and other rare cars.  His eclectic collection of unusual antiques including pinball machines, one arm bandits and other memorabilia will also be on display.  Further particulars will be on the group email.

October Event Features Food....WHAT'S NEW??!!

The 4th Annual Progressive Dinner will be held October 16th.  We will start with heavy hors d' oeuvres at Vince and  Pat Cooke's home in Lillian and then proceed to Fritz and Ann Klumppís home in Pensacola for desserts.   This early notice is so that you can begin dieting now so as to be ready to "pig out" in October.  Further details will be in the October issue and on the website.

John Barber announced at our last meeting that he and his family would relocate near Atlanta, GA soon. He emphasized that he will be about 28 miles from the Atlanta road course. We will miss John but Atlanta isnít all that far, so we will see him again.
