The Birmingham British Motoring Club held their annual show, Sports Cars at Tannehill, at the huge Tannehill State Ironworks Memorial Park in conjunction with the Italian and German Clubs. Lots of Ferraris and lots of Porsches. The Birmingham club donates to “Magic Moments”, an organization that grants a wish to seriously ill children. PBCA’s Bill and Melissa Silhan were awarded Best In Show with their beautifully finished Aston-Martin DB-6. One Ferrari owner, who is also a Maserati owner, offered to buy Silhan’s DB-6 at his full stated price. Bill told me that he is considering it but also that he really didn’t want to part with his car.

PBCA’s Mickey and Kay Kay of Lillian, Alabama were on hand with their whole family and showed their 1967 MGB. Kay and Mickey took second in a huge field.

PBCA’s Ron Pardo of Eclectic, Alabama, a few miles north of Montgomery was First In Class with his beautiful 1973 Triumph TR-6. Ron’s luck is legendary – he also won a 20-inch TV flat screen and a $25.00 certificate!!!

“This Writer’s” TR-8 nabbed First In Class in a class of six Triumph TR-8’s. I drove up from Pensacola with my son, Eric Moseley. Eric enjoyed the show and commented to me about how very friendly the Birmingham folks were.

The “New Orleans Gang” from British Motoring Club of New Orleans caravanned to Tannehill and took plenty of awards back to New Orleans. Their fabulous 16th annual New Orleans British Car Day is on the books for March 2006 and we look forward to it. They had a large, new

fold- up tent of the type we had never seen before. Only a photo of them trying to fold it up will describe their efforts!

From Tom Schmitz ---

Perfect Day at Chateau Élan

The weather was perfect for the owners and viewers of the 488 British cars which were displayed at the reported to be last gathering at Chateau Élan.  It was stated that the event will be held next year but at a new venue.

A good turn out of PBCA members were there. Driving up on Friday and staying thru Sunday were Curt and Midge Derby with their '53 MGTD which took a Second Place trophy out of 12 TDs, Tom and Jeanne Schmitz brought the '55 TF 1500 and took the First Place TF Class Trophy.  Keith and Nelda Sanders had their '69 MGC and Mike and Cherie Japp and son, Thomas were in their '66 Triumph 2000.  Dave Burrows manned the Moss tent at the vendors corral and Dick and Mitzi Maddux drove down from their cabin in the Carolina mountains to enjoy the day viewing the cars.  We also had a nice visit with Montgomery PBCA members Ron and Lynn Pardo.

Major Effort Results in Big Sponsor Showing

19 PBCA members made a major last minute effort in recruiting Sponsors for the April Pensacola Beach Show and brought in a total of 46 Sponsors.

Their work was very much appreciated and led to the financial success of the show.  Leading the list and winning the Sponsor Contest again this year, with an incredible number of 14 sponsors, was Fred Morgan.  Fred will receive a gift certificate and special recognition plaque.  Bringing in multiple Sponsors were: Jim Haskins, 3; Bob Henson, 3; Craig Smith, 3: Tom Schmitz, 3; Vince Cooke, 2; Jim Cromwell, 2; Curt Derby, 2; Ralph Overly, 2; and Brenda Putriment, 2.  Recruiting 1 each were Chuck and Charlene Byrne, Bill Cornacchione, Richard Cunningham, Gus Fell, Mickey Kay, Fritz Klumpp, Ron Newman, Pete Peterson, and Debbie Winslett.  Cooke, Putriment, Haskins and Cornachiccone won the contest drawings for gift certificates.

Also, a very "BIG THANK YOU" to all the PBCA members who lent their time and efforts to making the 2005 show such a resounding success and resulting in many kudos from our out of town visitors and participants who seemed to enjoy the show. We hope they will return next year for the 15th Annual Show at Pensacola Beach.
